Why is it that so
few believers take the time to read the Bible every day? We live in a society
that’s always on the go. This means that many expect everything to be fast,
easy, and as effortless as is possible. Generally people will take the time to
do what they really want to do. So, do you do it? My dear friend, do you believe
that it is worth your time to spend in the Word? In fact the more time you
invest in studying the Word the better it is for you.
Why is it important to invest time in the Word? There are many reasons why
but, let’s focus on three reasons. One, there is power in the Word. “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17 (NIV) “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than
any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of
both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the
heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (NASB ) Two, it teaches us. “All
Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make
us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and
teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his
people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) Third, so that you may know the One
who set you free more intimately. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NKJV)
